Media Survival offers writing and editing workshops, media training, communication skills coaching and more – and I guarantee every session will be run by myself, Dan Kaufman.

To tell you a bit about myself, I’m a former journo who began his career on magazines before moving to The Sydney Morning Herald, where I wrote for and edited almost every section at one time or another.

I then taught at UTS and The University of Sydney – and that’s when I realised how much I love training. Even when I moved on and began working in digital marketing, branding and corporate communications, I still moonlighted as a trainer for various organisations – until eventually my side hustle took too much time and I had to make it a full-time gig.

Which is how Media Survival was born.

I’ve now been running it for over 15 years and in that time I’ve trained almost every kind of organisation, from government departments and councils to banks, superannuation firms, hospitals, publishers and not for profits.

Most of my work involves customised courses for teams, as well as one-on-one sessions with leaders, but I also offer public workshops throughout the year.

I’m based in Melbourne but fly regularly around Australia – and my clients are increasingly from all over the world (especially New Zealand).
